ETG Calculator is a free educational platform built to help people understand how Ethyl Glucuronide (ETG) — a byproduct of alcohol metabolism — is detected in urine tests. We combine research-informed estimation tools with plain-language explanations, so users can make sense of a topic that is often poorly explained online.
Why we built this
ETG testing is used across a wide range of settings: workplace compliance programs, court-ordered monitoring, addiction recovery programs, and clinical care. Despite how commonly it is used, reliable and straightforward information about how ETG works — and what affects detection windows — is surprisingly hard to find.
We created ETG Calculator to fill that gap. Our tools are built around publicly available scientific literature on ETG half-life, elimination rates, and laboratory cutoff thresholds. Every calculator on this site is designed to inform, not to guarantee outcomes.
What our tools do
Our calculators estimate ETG detection windows based on factors including the number of drinks consumed, body weight, biological sex, time since last drink, and laboratory cutoff level. These estimates are grounded in general metabolic models referenced in clinical and toxicology research.
We are transparent about what our tools cannot do: they cannot replicate a certified laboratory result, account for individual health conditions, or predict outcomes for any specific test. We state this clearly on every tool page.
Our editorial approach
All content on ETG Calculator is written and reviewed with the following standards in mind:
Accuracy over simplicity. We do not oversimplify results to tell users what they want to hear. Detection windows are presented as ranges with clear explanations of why individual results vary.
No misleading claims. We do not publish content that promises negative test results, promotes detox methods, or suggests ways to manipulate testing outcomes. If a claim cannot be supported by scientific consensus, it is not published here.
Clear disclaimers. Every tool and article carries a prominent disclaimer clarifying that our content is for educational purposes only and does not constitute medical or legal advice.
We reference authoritative sources including the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) and the CDC’s Alcohol and Public Health resources where relevant.
Who manages this site
ETG Calculator is developed and maintained by a small team with backgrounds in health education, web development, and science communication. We are not a medical institution, laboratory, or legal service. We are educators and developers who believe that clear, honest health information should be freely accessible.
We review and update our content regularly to reflect current scientific understanding and best practices in responsible health publishing.
Privacy and user respect
No account creation is required to use any tool on this platform. We do not sell user data. Our full data practices are described in our Privacy Policy.
Important notice
ETG Calculator is an educational resource only. It is not a diagnostic service, medical tool, or legal reference. For clinically valid results, always consult a qualified healthcare provider, certified laboratory, or licensed legal professional.
